Privacy Policy for WireSwitch VPN

WireSwitch VPN is developed by Cardinate Consulting LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles information when you use it on Apple TV.

WireSwitch VPN is a bring-your-own WireGuard VPN client. We do not provide VPN service, VPN accounts, or VPN servers.

Information stored on your Apple TV

WireSwitch VPN stores the WireGuard profiles you add, including configuration text, profile names, VPN endpoint information, connection status, and location details associated with an endpoint. A WireGuard configuration may contain sensitive information, such as a private key.

This information is stored locally on your Apple TV in the app’s storage. Profile data is used to connect to the VPN server you selected and to display your saved profiles in the app and Apple TV Top Shelf.

The app does not upload your WireGuard configurations to Cardinate Consulting LLC or to our servers.

Local setup portal

WireSwitch VPN runs a setup portal on your local network so you can use another device, such as a phone or computer, to add, rename, organize, and delete WireGuard profiles.

The portal is available only through the local network address displayed by the app. You may optionally protect the portal with a password. The portal uses local-network HTTP communication; use it only on a network you trust.

Network and location information

To show the location associated with a VPN endpoint and to show your public IP location after connecting, the app sends a request to ipwho.is.

These requests may include:

• The VPN endpoint hostname from your WireGuard profile, when looking up an endpoint location.
• Your Apple TV’s current public IP address, as part of the request used to determine the location of your active public IP.

This information is sent directly to ipwho.is and is subject to its privacy practices. Cardinate Consulting LLC does not operate ipwho.is and does not receive or store the results on its own servers.

VPN traffic

When you connect, your network traffic is routed through the VPN server identified in your WireGuard configuration. Your VPN provider or server operator may handle information according to its own privacy policy. You are responsible for choosing a trusted WireGuard-compatible VPN provider or server.

Data sharing and tracking

WireSwitch VPN does not use advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, tracking technologies, or third-party advertising identifiers. We do not sell personal information.

Data retention and deletion

Your saved profiles remain on your Apple TV until you delete them in the local setup portal or remove the app. Deleting a profile removes its saved profile data from the app. You can remove all saved app data by deleting the app from Apple TV, subject to Apple’s handling of device and Keychain data.

Children’s privacy

WireSwitch VPN is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy if the app’s data practices change. The effective date at the top will be updated when changes are made.
